FollowSpy Review (2026): Is followspy.ai Safe? What It Does

At our June 13, 2026 check, FollowSpy (followspy.ai) was a live, actively maintained Instagram follower tracker and, unlike most names in this category, a legitimate one. It did what it advertised: enter any public Instagram username and it showed who that account recently followed and unfollowed, updated in near real time, plus an anonymous viewer for public Stories, all without asking for an Instagram login. The short verdict at that check: a real, well-reviewed tool for real-time follow tracking. Two tradeoffs are worth knowing before you pay: it doesn't track likes or comments, and it keeps no permanent archive of the Stories it shows. We have not re-tested it since Instagram's September 9, 2026 follow list change.

One quick disambiguation, because the brand name is older than the current tool. The live product is followspy.ai. A separate followspy.com has been offline for years (at our check it no longer resolved in DNS, and it was last archived in early 2021) and is unrelated to today's tool. If a "FollowSpy" link you have points at the .com, it's dead; the working tool this review covers is followspy.ai.

What does FollowSpy do?

At our check, followspy.ai centered on follow activity rather than broad content viewing:

• Recent follows and unfollows: at our June 13, 2026 check, you entered a public username and saw who it recently followed and unfollowed, newest first. Since Instagram's September 9, 2026 change we know of no tool that can reliably show follows in order, and we have not re-tested FollowSpy since.
• Real-time activity: changes showed up quickly rather than in batched daily reports.
• Anonymous Story viewing: watch a public account's Stories without your name appearing in the viewer list.
• Follower-growth analytics: trend insights aimed at personal use and influencer vetting.

It works with public profiles only, requires no Instagram login or password, and needs no extension or app; it's entirely web-based. Notably, FollowSpy's own pages state it can't and doesn't access private accounts, and it even publishes a list of red flags to avoid in other tools (credential requests, browser-extension installs, fake loading bars). That's the honest, correct claim, and a genuine point in its favor.

Is FollowSpy safe?

By the tests that matter in this category, followspy.ai scores well:

• No Instagram login or password: credentials are never requested, which removes the category's defining risk.
• Public-only scope, stated plainly: no private-account promises, the single biggest scam signal in this space.
• A real business footprint: a published US business address, phone, and support email, plus a 4.83/5 rating across 272 reviews on REVIEWS.io. That is stronger third-party validation than almost any free viewer in our anonymous viewers review.

The caveats are mostly categorical: like any third-party tool it can log your IP address and the usernames you search. Billing at our check was a weekly cycle with a free tier to start; as with any subscription, set a reminder if you start a plan you don't intend to keep.

What FollowSpy doesn't do

This is the honest boundary between FollowSpy and a full tracking platform:

• Likes and comments: FollowSpy tracked follows, unfollows, and Stories, but not what an account likes or comments on. IGDetective tracks likes and comments received over time, alongside follows.
• Expired Stories: its Story viewer shows what's currently live; there's no archive, so a Story you missed is gone. IGDetective's Story Archive keeps Stories from tracked profiles permanently, so they stay reviewable after they expire on Instagram, which is rare even among trackers. None of that makes FollowSpy bad at its job; the near-real-time follow tracking it advertises is a narrower job, and at our check it did it. It's a question of whether follows-and-Stories is all you need, or whether you also want likes, comments, permanent Stories, and an AI summary in one place.

If follows and live Stories were all you needed, FollowSpy was a reasonable pick at our June 2026 check.
