The one-table answer
| What you did | Can the other person see it? |
|---|---|
| Viewed their profile | No |
| Viewed their story | Yes — your username appears in their viewer list |
| Liked or commented on a post or Reel | Yes, by name |
| Followed them | Yes — they get a notification |
| Unfollowed them | No notification; their follower count drops |
| Screenshotted a feed post or a profile | No |
| Searched their username | No |
| Saved their post | No — the owner sees a count with no names |
What Instagram is testing in 2026
- No usernames. The figure is a total. There is no list, no avatars, no “who”.
- No per-person history. Nothing separates twenty views by one account from twenty accounts viewing once.
- No visibility to anyone else. Only the profile’s owner sees the number; a visitor sees nothing at all.
- Not everyone has it. If someone you know has the number and you don’t, that is the rollout, not a setting you missed.
Do business or creator accounts see who viewed their profile?
Apps that claim to show who viewed your profile
How to tell if someone is “stalking” your Instagram
- Story views. The one surface that comes with names. Open a live story inside its 24 hours and the viewer list shows every account that watched it.
- Likes on old posts. A like on a photo from three years ago means somebody scrolled a long way back. It is the closest thing to evidence of a deep read of your profile that Instagram will ever hand you.
- Follow and unfollow churn. An account that follows, drops off, and follows again is paying attention. The follow arrives as a notification; the rest only shows up if something is recording it.
- Being added to Close Friends. The green ring on a story means that person chose to put you in a smaller audience.
- Read receipts in Direct. “Seen” under a message tells you when they opened it — and nothing about the rest of the app.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you see who views your Instagram profile?
No. Instagram has never shown a list of profile visitors on any account type, and Instagram’s head, Adam Mosseri, reconfirmed it in July 2026. Only story views, likes, comments and follows are attributed by name.
Can I see who viewed my Instagram profile?
No. Personal, creator and business accounts all lack a visitor list. Business and creator accounts see a total count of profile visits in Insights, with no names attached.
Does Instagram tell you if someone keeps looking at your profile?
No. Repeat visits are not counted per person and no notification exists. The only named signals are story views and interactions.
Does Instagram actually show who views your profile?
No. A limited 2026 test shows some accounts a 14-day count of profile views — a number only. It does not show who viewed.
Is Instagram adding profile views?
Instagram has been testing a 14-day profile-view count with a subset of accounts since late 2025. As of this guide’s date it shows a count, not identities, and it has not been announced as a global feature — check Instagram’s Help Center for the current state.
Can a third-party app show who viewed my Instagram?
No. Instagram does not expose visitor data to any app. Tools claiming otherwise infer from story views or invent results; treat any such claim as a scam signal.
How can I tell if someone is stalking my Instagram?
Watch the signals Instagram does attribute: story views by name, likes on older posts, follow-unfollow patterns and DM read receipts. None of them prove profile visits.
